Transparent honored at the White House as part of LGBT “Champions of Change” event
Yesterday the cast and crew of Amazon’s Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning series Transparent went to the White House for an event honoring “LGBT Champions of Change.”
The event honors those who advance the conversation of LGBT issues through the arts. Transparent creator Jill Soloway and members of the incredibly talented cast took part in the afternoon – continuing their tireless efforts to raise awareness about issues impacting the LBGT and allied communities. Among the White House officials attending the event were Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to President Obama, and Secretary of Housing & Urban Development Julian Castro, who praised Transparent for its authentic and ground-breaking storytelling that is making a difference in how transgender people are treated across the world.
The Transparent team, in partnering with the White House, was able to help draw attention to the nine grassroots Champions of Change that the White House chose as artists who are positively impacting LGBT and allied communities. We were honored to be a part of the afternoon and can’t wait for everyone to see what Season 2 of Transparent has in store.
