Oscar Binge Week is here, and we know Prime customers are excited to see the nominees before the stars hit the red carpet.

To identify just when viewers start to binge, we looked at the streaming patterns of five of last year’s nominees for Best Picture. There was a surge in streams one week before the Oscars aired, and views for these films more than doubled.

On Prime Video from 2010-2017, over one third of all streams of Oscar-nominated movies took place between the nominations and the awards.

Serious bingers streamed all five movies in the day prior to the Academy Awards, and the person who cut it the closest finished streaming all five movies four minutes before Jimmy Kimmel kicked off his opening monologue. Within minutes of that unforgettable moment when La La Land Moonlight won Best Picture, streams of the film rose eight times over the previous week.
