This week, Amazon learned what it means to be "Nashville Strong." Early in the morning of March 3, devastating tornadoes tore through the greater Nashville area, taking the lives of Middle Tennessee residents and destroying hundreds of homes and businesses. Our thoughts are with all those affected by the tornadoes, and we are providing direct assistance to members of our team who have been impacted.

"In the face of significant destruction, we’ve been inspired by the strength and resilience of our Nashville-area neighbors; by the leadership of local officials who've welcomed Amazon executives to collaborate in recovery efforts; and by the outpouring of generosity that we've seen on the ground," said Holly Sullivan, head of economic development, Amazon. "We are proud and grateful to be part of this community and leverage our operational expertise and logistics network to help our neighbors and employees in the greater Nashville area recover."

In response, Amazon has already donated more than 600,000 items—including water, diapers, toiletries, and clothing—to local organizations including Team Goodness, Second Harvest Middle Tennessee, and Community Resource Center that are directly distributing relief items to people in impacted areas. We’re coordinating with Metro Nashville Public Schools and partnering with PENCIL to ensure that local students and families have access to in-demand items, including sleeping bags, headlamps, moving boxes, cleaning supplies, and board games. Our employees are also participating in upcoming volunteer clean-up efforts.

Our Amazon team visited seven neighborhood relief centers located in North Nashville, Germantown, East Nashville, Hermitage-Donelson, and Mt. Juliet. Shortly after those visits, Amazon quickly leveraged its logistics network and supply chain to deliver supplies the community needed. We will continue to work closely with Governor Lee, Mayor Cooper, and other local officials to identify the most effective ways Amazon can help our community in Middle Tennessee.

Amazon is proud to be a neighbor and stand together with all Nashvillians. We will continue to help our neighbors and employees in Middle Tennessee stay "Nashville Strong."
